Empower Your Dog class
testimonials
“I took the class to clean up my training techniques and it was amazing to see how quickly my pup responded to the goals once I had a clear plan, all thanks to Jenny’s guidance.
By starting with the basics we were able to build fluency without frustration. Jenny presents the training concepts clearly and splits the material into easily understood sections. And her feedback on submitted homework videos was great at giving support of what we did well and giving suggestions to help us progress to the next steps. ”
“I really enjoyed this class! Jenny is one of the most thoughtful positive reinforcement trainers I’ve been fortunate to learn from. Her attention to the dog’s body language and empowering them to opt in to learning is evident in everything she does. You can tell that your dog’s comfortability is her top priority!
This class was very different than any other class I’ve taken. I was familiar with a few of the pattern games and educational content, but this class helped me think about new ways to use them and how to better set our dogs up for success. The class really helped me think about how to set up our training sessions which I’d never done in this way before and the overall importance of predictability and consistency. I also appreciated that there was zero pressure to demonstrate if our dogs weren’t up for it during class!”
“I loved that the focus of this class was on my dog’s well being, our communication and her interaction with the environment. Watching her become more confident as we went through the different activities each week was such a gift. Jenny was always ready with an adjustment or accommodation for each person’s dog depending on what they needed or showed up with. I’m so excited to continue working on everything we have learned.”
“My overall experience was excellent. My dog loved it too...I loved feeling that I had accomplished something positive with Rufus after every class. He and I were both jazzed up in happiness after every class…Every time I got out the clicker and the ‘special’ treats he became very animated. I was inspired to be curious and open-minded about other ways in which I could make his life better…[Jenny] inspired me to observe his reactions and use his behavior to inform my decisions about how to best help him.”
“We loved the class! We learned a lot in five weeks. Each class was organized and well-run, other people and dogs in the class were awesome, weekly exercises were well-explained and doable, and feedback on the homework assignments were super helpful.
And I also enjoyed the presentation/lecture part of each virtual meeting, too. Learning about how and why behind each exercise was enlightening. I feel like this part could be an hour long by itself, haha. Thank you for the awesome class! :) I wish I would have known about it sooner, like a year and a half ago!”
“Jenny brought previously learned material to new life each week and provided brand new information in easy to comprehend language and demonstration. Everything was so organized and smoothly paced. Very enjoyable class!! ”
“Ruby and I had an excellent experience with the class. It met and exceeded my expectations in teaching me to be a better trainer and partner for Ruby. [Jenny is] such a good teacher - clear, thoughtful and well prepared.
I loved that the class was small so that we could all ask questions and so that we had 1:1 time as we worked through the lesson with our dog in real time. I got a lot out of being able to post a weekly video and get comments back on it. I liked the focus on training theory so that we can take what we learned and keep applying it to different situations.”
“I liked that we had the option of submitting weekly videos for feedback from Jenny. This kept us accountable and encouraged training throughout the week. I also thought the course was structured well, with some background information on animal behavior theory as well as active participation with each of our dogs. It created a sense of community, which can be difficult in a virtual setting!”
“I really like the class because it provides so many insides and basic exercises that one can easily teach, learn and apply in different situations. Jenny explains every subject so clearly.
The fact that we get to post videos to get feedback is amazing. Plus since the class is a small group been able to practise in the session helps to understand the techniques is helpful considering this is an online course.”
“We loved the class! Jenny’s approach to dog empowerment is thoughtful, empathetic, and research based. Over the course of 5 weeks we’ve bonded with our pup in new ways and kept learning light and fun for all of us.
We loved the accessibility of resources, exercise videos, and the virtual class itself. Our pup is most relaxed in our home so it was helpful to learn new games together that way. It was valuable to hear from our peers in the class and see how their dogs were doing with each new activity. Jenny has an impressive ability to assess each situation and offer helpful suggestions. We’re really excited to keep applying these new skills from this toolkit of compassionate engagement.”
“This class was excellent!! I really enjoyed working with [Jenny] and I was really impressed with how smoothly the class ran via a virtual and group setting. I definitely will look back at the resources provided and I feel that I have many more tools now to utilize to help my dog build confidence in himself and trust in me.
I really liked the interactive part of the class. Having real-time feedback on training was really helpful. It also helped to engage my dog, who has trouble sitting still, especially for zoom calls, so getting to interact with him while on the call was great.”
“Jenny’s ‘Empower Your Dog’ class was such a great experience to be a part of. We’ve partaken in a variety of virtual trainings in the past year and this by far was the most beneficial for us. From the excellent content review, to the virtual ‘hands on’ approach during the live classes, we were always learning something new or improving on the skills we knew. By the end of the class I could see clear improvement in both my understanding and execution of the material, but also with my dogs understanding, willingness, and enjoyment in participating.
Jenny’s support and guidance throughout the entirety of the class was priceless and so helpful for both human and dog! It’s a wonderful thing when you can watch your dog making their own, amazing decisions and doing so in a confident and supported manner. This class really helped us understand the basics needed to start, but also the details and further knowledge to continue growing the trust relationship with our dog.”
“I had an amazing experience taking the class. It was challenging and interesting for me, and a huge amount of fun for my dog. I cannot recommend Jenny and her class highly enough. There was a noticeable difference in DotCom’s behavior by the third week he was more playful, engaged, and excited.
Jenny is so in tune with the needs of every human and dog in her class, even over Zoom. She was able to personalize exercises in a group setting to help us and our dogs be successful. When the exercise wasn’t going smoothly for a duo, or she noticed a dog struggling, she always had a modification up her sleeve to suggest. Not only is her passion for kind, humane treatment of our animals obvious, but she demonstrates the same regard towards people. She is an amazing cheerleader and coach for both pups and humans alike.”
“Working with Jenny from Dogminded was one of the best decisions we made! We took part in her virtual ‘Empower your Dog’ class and I’m so glad we did. Jenny is such a brilliant trainer and provides not only great support, but also the knowledge needed to understand the mechanics and better understand your dog overall. I would recommend working with Dogminded in a heartbeat to anyone who asked, you won’t regret and your dog will thank you!!”
“It was my first real experience after too many times with non [positive reinforcement] training - and I loved it, and I’d like to think my pupster did too. We haven’t done a lot of training, because I have not had her long and have struggled with what to exactly to do. [This class] helped us both figure that out and gave us tools to continue in a direction that makes me feel confident that we are going to, together, get to a place where we happily navigate the world according to her comfort level.”
“Jenny is knowledgeable and no question was ‘too much’ to answer. She was great at explaining the theory behind the practice. This was my first experience with [positive reinforcement] training and I’m never going back - it so clearly felt right and good for us and our dog right away. Even though it’s only been a few weeks, Cassie has made a ton of progress through this class.
Jenny gives great feedback to humans (and dogs, of course!) so it was helpful to practice the skills with her watching first and then put the skill into the training rotation right away. The video demonstrations, the lecture/slides, and the check-in at the beginning were all helpful, too! Overall I think it was really well structured and balanced between listening/learning/watching/doing.”
“We’ve worked with a few other trainers, but Jenny had the most patient and clear perspective on how to work with our dog. She answered all of my questions (and I had many) in a clear a constructive way. She presented the theory behind all of our activities in a way that we could understand and she set us up for success going forward!”
